Evalo provides multiple convenient ways to start repository evaluations. Whether you're working within your dashboard or sharing assessments publicly, you can quickly initiate evaluations from several different locations.

Before You Start

Make sure you have a GitHub repository URL ready and that your assessment has at least one requirement configured.

Method 1: From Evaluations Screen

The evaluations screen provides a centralized location to manage and start new evaluations:

  1. 1
Navigate to Evaluations: Click on "Evaluations" in the main navigation sidebar.
  2. 2
Click "New Evaluation": Look for the "New Evaluation" button, typically located at the top right of the evaluations list.

Select Assessment: Choose which assessment you want to use for the evaluation from the dropdown menu.
  4. 4
Enter Repository URL: Paste the GitHub repository URL you want to evaluate.
  5. 5
Start Evaluation: Click "Start Evaluation" to begin the automated analysis process.

Advantage

This method gives you access to all your assessments in one place and provides a complete overview of your evaluation history.

Method 2: From Assessment List

You can quickly run evaluations directly from the assessments screen using the run icon:

  4. 4
Add Email (Optional): Optionally provide your email address to receive evaluation results.
  5. 5
Submit for Evaluation: Click "Start Evaluation" to submit your repository for analysis.

Advantage

Perfect for candidate assessments, open-source project evaluations, or sharing assessments with external users who don't have Evalo accounts.

What Happens During Evaluation

Once you start an evaluation, here's what happens behind the scenes:

  • Repository Analysis: Evalo clones and analyzes the repository structure, files, and content.
  • Requirement Checking: Each requirement in the assessment is evaluated against the repository.
  • AI Analysis: AI processes the code quality, structure, and generates recommendations.
  • Score Calculation: The final score is calculated based on the weighted scoring system.
  • Results Generation: Comprehensive evaluation results are compiled with scores, insights, and recommendations.

⏱️ Typical Processing Time

Evaluations usually complete in 2-5 minutes depending on repository size and complexity.

You'll see real-time status updates and can monitor progress in the evaluations list.

Best Practices

  • Use Public Repositories: Ensure the repository is publicly accessible on GitHub for evaluation.
  • Verify Assessment Setup: Make sure your assessment has requirements configured before running evaluations.
  • Check Repository Quality: Ensure the repository has proper documentation and a clear structure for best results.
  • Monitor Usage Limits: Keep track of your plan's evaluation limits to avoid interruptions.

Important Note

Private repositories require additional setup and permissions. Contact support for private repository evaluation options.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

❌ "Repository not found" error

Solution: Double-check the URL format and ensure the repository is publicly accessible
